My Dog Has a Gas Problem, Do You Think It’s Related to the Food He Eats?
Depending on the age, dog gas problems can be caused by any number of things. Almost all puppies have gas problems as their stomach and intestines mature and get used to digesting adult food.
So if your dog is fairly young and experiencing this problem it is most likely that it will pass without a problem.
Adult dogs can get gas problems for a large number of reasons. One of the main reasons is indigestion. This could be caused by eating too much food at once, or eating food that does not agree with it. Even some parasite can cause this problem as well.
Food allergies is also in other big cause of gas problems in dogs. Dogs can develop allergies to several different ingredients in their diet over time.
Remember just because a dog has eaten the same food for years does not mean that it cannot eventually develop allergies to that food.
So if this problem is continuing or getting worse you should see your veterinarian, however most of the times this passes without incident.
In the mean meantime monitor what your dog is meeting and how much it is eating, sometimes by just reducing the amount of food the dog eats, or changing its diet can reduce how much gas a dog has.
Remember, if you’ve recently changed your dog’s diet it is natural for them to go through a period of adjustment to the new diet and have more gas than normal. This should resolve though within a week or two of changing to a new diet.
